RANGIWAHIA NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
During the holidays our township has been rather quiet, a great many people being away. The farmers are still busy with their shearing and haymaking, perfect weather being experienced -for these operations. So fa? the potato crops are looking splendid; and there are no signs of blight in this district. The Eangiwahia Tennis Club opened their new court on January 1, when there was a good attendance of mempfers and' some pleasant games were played.' ‘ Visitors were present lror4 the Ejiahihe Club, and afternoon tea jvas provided by the ladies. The Presided! of the Club. Mp J. D. McGregor, has presented a racquet, suitably engraved, to the committee, and the corm petition for this handsome trophy will commence about February 1. Interclub matches have been arranged between Kuahine, Hinau, and Eangiwahia, the first between Eangiwahia and Euahine, to be played at Eangiwahia on January 19. At the beginning of the year our mail contracts changed hands. The kangiwahia'Mangaweka mail ■ is uaw lhh by ilr M. BielsTd, jun., who has a hew and up-to-date coach built for this Service. Mr T. White has taken over |he Eimbqlton-Eaugiwahia service. We fisli these gentlemen every success in ihe|r new ventures. Quite a shock was felt in this district at the news of the sad accident in the Eangitikei Eiver. On behalf of Mr and Mrs Marshall’s many friends here I beg to tender their heartfelt sympathy and condolence to the sorrowing parents.
