Owing to the posting of notices of an intended strike by the miners of North Wales, 5000 miners have joined the Miners Federation. Two collieries still remain outside the federation.

Newcastle January 7.

Three colleries in the Newcastle district are idle owing to a disagreement with the miners.

Melbourne, January 7. About two thousand resumed work in the building trade, giving 'employment indirectly to another thousand.
