THOROUGHBRED HORSE SALE.

There was a good attendance of the | public generally and a number of owners | and trainers at Messrs Abrahaln and Williams’ sale of thoroughbred horses held in their emporium ph Saturday. The animals offered for sale were chiefly from the Hon. J. D. Ormond’s stud, but there was a good sprinkling of I other horses, including one or two in training offered on behalf of other owners. Some of the prices realised were highly satisfactory, while in some instances great bargains were securedThe biggest price reached was that for the half-sister to that well-known performer St. Albert (St. Andrew—Arethusa) in the Jahape of a well-grown 3-year-old brown filly by The Officer—Arethusa, which fell to the bid of 40gns of Mr G. P. Payne, who recently purchased Submarine for ,£SOO and won a good part of . same back in one stake at the recent Manawatu meeting. The next highest price was obtained for a full-sister to Pull Bate (Tire Officer—Kimmer) Mr Ruddick, of Woodville, being the purchaser at 39gns. The same buyer secured a full-sister to the defunct grey mare Trumpery (The Officer—Queen of Trumps) for 32gns. The following are the details of the
