MANUREWA TOWN BOARD.
- «j> . The usual bi-monthly meeting of the Manurewa Town Board was held on Monday. Present: Mr. T. J. Corin (chairman), Messrs M. D. King, 10. Pcgler, W. Cox, G. Smith and C, 11. t Lui)ton, 1 \ Correspondence, An amount of general correspondence was dealt with. Electric Power. It was decided that the Manurewa Town Board apply to the Electric Power Board to have 300 h.p. supplied from the Horahora plant. Mr, Lupton was appointed delegate from the Board. Valuation. Mr. Lupton reported that Mr. McCullough would shortly be in Manurewa to value the town district. Rletal From Gaol. The clerk .reported that though he had written to the gaol authorities regarding the size of the metal ordered, the size sent was not in ac- . cordance with specifications, being much too large. The Board instructed the clerk to again write to the authorities. The Memorial Monument. An account from Parkinson and Co. for £lB2 for the war memorial monument was received,, which was greatly in excess of the estimated cost. The chairman pointed out that the detailed account showed thirty bags of cement. lie claimed that this amount was not used. The monument was also a foot lower than agreed upon. The matter was finally left with the Memorial Committee to deal with. Question of interest. The difficulty of raising loans at the rate of interest allowed by the Government was discussed and it was decided that a deputation wait upon Mr Massey while he was at Pukekohc next week, with a view to 'securing his co-operation.
