CHANGING SOLICITORS.
DISSATISFIED TOWN BOARD.
HOW MANUREWA ADJUSTS MATTERS. It is not often that a firm of solicitors makes the mistake of allowing a loeal body to become so dissatis!!ed with its attention to business (hat it, to use a vulgar term, "gives them the sack," but that is exactly what has happened to the firm of solitors retained by the Manurewa Town Board. At the meeting of the Board held on Monday evening the chairman (Mr. C'-rin) moved in the terms of his notice of motion given previously, chat the Board's solicitors cease acting for the Board on account of their unsatisfactory attention to correspondence, and that a new film which he named be appointed to act for the Board. Mr. Pegier, in seconding the motion, said he had no dissatisfaction with the firm named, but on democratic principles he preferred to see the work go round. In a yea,'- or two he would be quite prepared to sec the Hoard again change its solicitors, Mr. Lupton strongly dissented. them about £3o,' which .hail I,'cei I owing for fully three years. He considered the old firm had treated then: ' nuite handsomely. In regard to the delay in answering correspondence : he hail gono to the firm's office and ! made inciuiries ana had been assured iby Llic principals of the firm that j the letter in question from the Board ! had never been received by them. ' The clerk mentioned at this point that he had written twice and had not received a reply to either letter. The Chairman: It is hardly feasible that two letters should go astray "addressed to the one firm. Mr. Lupton reiterated his remarks in favour of giving the old. firm another chance. He moved an amendment to the effect that the old linn bo written to stating that no reply had been received to the Board's letters and requesting- that the matter be given immediate attention. Mr. Smith seconded the amendment, which was put to the meeting, only the mover and seconder voting for it. On the motion being then put, Messrs Corin, King, Pegler and Cox voted for it anO Messrs. Lupton and Smith against it.. Tims the old firm is dismissed and a new firm is engaged, all through alleged neglect to attend \o correspondence,
