Two piles of apples lay on the ground. One contained a large-sized and rosy selection; the fruit of the other was green and small. "Large on the top, sir, and small at the bottom," inquired the new assistant, as he prepared to fill the barrel. , . "Certainly not!" replied the farmer virtuousl'v. "Honesty is the best policv, my bov. Put the little rpples at the top, and the big ones at the bottom." ~,,,. , The assistant complied. His -nastci was evidently as green as his greenest "Is" the barrel full, my lad?" asked the fanner. "Yes, sir," replied the assistant. "Good!" said the farmer. |'Now turn it upside clown and label it!
