MOTOR CYCLE AND GIG COLLIDE.
RIDER OF FORMER INJURED. A MIRACULOUS ESCAPE. A collision between a motor cycle, ridden by a young man named Allen Wrignt, .son of Mr. Angus Wright, farmer, Maukli, and n horse and gig. driven by Mr. E, Curran, occurred on tlie top of the gradient near Keane’s corner, on the Pukckohe-Wai-nku Road, on Wednesday night at about 10.30. It appears that Messrs. E. Curnan and J. O’Malley, residents Piikekohe, were out for ,*i drive and were returning home. Wright and another motor cyyclist, both mounted on Indian motor-cycles, were '■eturnino' from Pukekohe, to their homes, and it is alleged were travelling at more than regulation speed, when Wright collided with the vehicle,, which, it is stated, was on the correct side of the road. Both! cycles and the gig, we understand" carried sufficient headlights. The impact was so severe that the front of the .motor was badlv damaged and Die shafts of the ' gig wore smashed off. while the left 'stop of the vehicle was also badly bent. The! horse received a severe wound on the left side of the chest. The occupants ol tiic gig were thrown out. Mr. Curnan receiving a nasty bump on the right eye. Wright was more unfortunate. He was thrown heavily from his machine and sustained a’ nasty cut on the left leg above the knee a wound on the head, besides a number of bruises and skin abrasions while he also suffered from shock. Medical aid was summoned and the unfortunate young man was removed j 1.0 Dr. Campbell Smith’s home, where re is now, progressing as well as can ic expected. He is still sufferin'* j Tom shock. ° I
