Coronation Road.—A concrete water trough has been procured from Mr Napier to replace the_ old wooden one near the blacksmith’s shop. Favona Road.—The wing fencing to the overhead railway bridge is completed. Quarrying.—Any spare time during the month has been devoted to carry-
ing stone, both by our own foreman and contractor (Williams). Mr W. Atkins bas arrived to take up his duties in this Riding. He ;s at present busy shifting into the house purchased by the Council. Palfuranga" Riding.—Foreman K. McLeod reports that he has devoted ins time to the following roads : Howick Main Road, blinding and raking in metal, widening the corner at Crawford's with all the crushed metal available, and binding same with shingle. The old stone culvert at Mr Robert’s bas been replaced w.ith -a L2in concrete pßpe, and the ends faced with the stone from the culveit. Beach and Buckland Roads have been repaired as far as the metal would go. The Public Works Department have inspected the Main Ilowlck Road,, Government grant job, and will authorise payment for ■same at an early date. Papakura Riding.—General surface work has been carried on in this Riding du.fjng the month. The water-tables and culverts have been attended to on most of the roads. Kanfurlv Road.—This road was inspected by the Public Works Engineer and passed. It will be necessary to stone face the outlet of the -Ift pipe culvert next to Dunn’s-Road, as the rush of water in flood time is cutting away the bank in private property. Ibis work I wj(,!l put in hand as soon as a lorry can be spared to haul the stone. Pa pa toe toe Riding. Boundary Road ; This road has been repaired as far as the money will go with crushed metal. The 'quantity of metal used has not yet come to hand. The crushing plant is now engaged at the depot crushing for the 'Back road. -The biiidce gang have made a start with the English Church bridge, on the back road.
Turanga Riding. Theie is very little to report in this Riding for the month. Our foreman, who has been quarrying, being-away for the greater part of the time. Application has been made to the Publ»c Works Department for u transfer of v 100 from the Howick-Whitford road to the Maungaroa bridge. The grader is still working in his Riding. General. I have not had time since resuming to visit all the Ridings, but will endeavwur to get round before t|ie meeting, so as to report verbally on an y matters overlooked. The two lorries are not vet to hand from Now Plymouth, though word is io hand that they are well advanced.., Building permits, amounting t0£2850, have been passed during the month of December. The report was adopted.
