PROPOSED TOWN HALL SITE.

FOR PAPAKURA. For some time past it has been evident that the present buildings 'ind allotment used by the Town Board for its offices and library arc totally inadequate to meet with the Board’s requirements. Realising this, Mr Percy Halt, at ’ast night’s meeting of the Board, wrote offering to exchange a triangular piece of land, bounded by Queen Street, Cole’s Crescent, anil Slock Road, consisting of 1 acre 1 ’■cod, for the present Library and Board office site, consisting of t rood, for the pi rpose. The difference ox an acre would represent his gift to the citizens. In view of the fact that it was intended to erect a memorial in uiemoiy of the men of the disTrict who made the supreme sacrifice in the Great War, Mr Halt pointed out that he was prepared, if his offer was accepted, to give a depth of 25 feet from the corner fence for the memorial, which woqld allow of a ■>pace of fully 20 feet in diameter tor the statue, and ajllft wide footoath between it and! the new bounder v.
