An Auckland firm has received a cable message from America stating that the price quoted for butter exported from Auckland was too high for that market as Sun Francisco was offering supplies at 55 cents f.o.b. The drop in price was stated to be due to orders for big shipments to Europe being cancelled. Even with the rate of exchange in favour of American buyers,, it is cheaper to draw supplies at the present time from San Francisco than from Auckland at the rate now ruling here. It is understood that some contracts for butter from New Zealand for the United States have been cancelled by the buyers on account of the fall in the American market.
