Colostrum, or the first milk, is a thick, yellow Viscid fluid, somewhat bitter in taste. It is especially secreted for the young, for which it has special laxative properties. This milk should not be used for human consumption. Fed to children it is apt to cause digestive disturbances. After four or five "days from the time of calving, the milk becomes normal.
