"TELEGONY" AND YELLOW PIGS.
Sir, —Since writing on this subject -I have been surprised at the number of people who think there might be in it.".. Some of them are men who ought to know. I have, therefore, written to the Department of Agriculture for an authoritative opinion, and when I receive it, I shall p;iss it on to "you for publication. In. the meantime, the evidence adduced by Mrjtfellsop is very far from convincing. The pig with a reddish tinge is a common phenomenon on pig farms, and generally excites no more comment than the black sheep in every flock. I have seen it even in purebred Berkshircs, but it is much more common, in the Yorkshire. Old settlers used to say it was the CapU'in Cooker coming out. It frequently occurs in pigs showing a lack of constitution, which may have led Mr. Mellsop to see characteristics of the Tamworth. J. S. MONTGOMERY, Mangere, December 5, 1920. f ,
