AUCKLAND MARKET REPORT.
Mr. J. Jones, auctioneer, reports sales for week ending December 3, 1920:--
This week a large volume of business has been put 'through, and values are about the same as last report's. Poultry is coming forward in heavy supply, and any choice birds are in strong demand. Turkeys are selling high, and values are bound to firm. Good roosters and heavy hens sold well. Potatoes now coming fh in heavy supply, and sles are good. Values shade easier. We handled a heavy supply of Island frit this week, and prices were good. A heavy supply of tomatoes were landed, and sold well. The grain market is easier. Pig market easier. We quote:— Poultry: Roosters, prime, 6s lid to 9i'. sd; good, 6s to 6s 6d; cockerels, 4s to ss; ducks, heavy young ones, 8s 4d; good, 5s 9d to 6s 4d; Indian Runner ducks, old, 3s 6d to 4s 3d. Geese, 8s to 10s. Hens, heavy, 6s 3d to 8s 2d; good 5s to 5s 9d; light, 3s 9d to 4s 3d. Turkey gobblers, 18s 6d to £1 7s 9d; hen turkeys, 9s 6d to 16s sd; chicks, 6d to Is 3d. Ducklings,p Is 3d to 2s.
Produce: Potatoes, new, prime, l J 4d to Onions, 30s 6d. Vegetables, current rates. Southern potatoes, £4. Butter, Is 7d to Is Eggs, 2s 5d to 2s 7d. Cheese, Is 4d. Hams, Is Bd. Sides, Is sd. Honey, lOd. Fruit: Apples, 16s to 19s 9d. Lemons, 8s to 10s 9d. Tomatoes, 10s to 16s case. Bananas, £1 4s to £1 8s 6d. Cocoanuts, 14s to 15s sack. Pines, 19s. Oranges, £1 6s to £1 9s. , Grain: Oats, 5s Bd. Bran, lis 6d. Sharps, 13s 6d. Barley, 9s lOd. Maize, 5s 6d to 9s. Chaff, Southern, £l3 lbs to £l4.
