ABERDEEN-ANGUS CATTLE.
TRIUMPHS IN SOUTH AFRICA,
At the 1920 show at Bloemfontein (South Africa) the Aberdeen-Angus breed scored a triumph in the show ring. The contest of great interest to exhibitors is for the prize awarded for "the best group of any one purebreed," known as "the Dunne Challenge Cup' of the value of lOOgns. On the present occasion ten groups competed, consisting of AberdeenAngus, Hereforcls, Sussex, Devons, Red Poles, Frieslands, Ayrshires and Africanders. The winners were declared to be the Aberdeen-Angus shown by the Union Government. It should be mentioned that only one animal in this group was imported, the four others being all South Afri-can-bred. As showing the success of the Aberdeen-Angus in South Africa, in 1919 the cup was won by an Aber-deen-Angus group when 17 groups representative of all breeds were shown. This victory has never been equalled by any breed in South Africa.
