WRIGHT MEMORIAL CUP.
PUKEKOHE DEFEATS WAT UK U
Four rinks representing the Wa>uku Bowling Club invited Pukekohe yesterday to try conclusions with the Pukekohe club for the C. Monty Wright Memorial Cup, a trophy presented for competition between the two clubs in memory of the late Mr C. Monty Wright. The president of the local club, Mr. •liiines Roulston, extended a hearty welcome to the Waiuku representatives, and expressed the hope they would put up a good fight for the tiophv. Three rinks from each ciub competed for the cup, while rinks icpresenting first year players also had a "try out." Results are as follows:-

Final of Tournament,
The final of the Pukekohe Club's recent tournament also took place between rinks skipped by R. Fitness an.l G. H. Armstrong, and after a dingdong battle Fitness won by a narrow margin. The scores and rinks were: -H. Bullock, W. Wilson, C. Bonner, senr., It. Fitness (s.) v. Dave Roulston, Jas. Roulston, Duncan Roulston. G. H. Armstrong (s.) 19. During an interval afternoon tea was dispensed by the ladies and duly appreciated. At the conclusion of the games the president, Mr. Jas. Roulston, presented the cup to the winners. In doing so he congratulated Waiuku on the fight they put up, being defeated only by a very narrow margin. The games had been thoroughly enjoyed, and had been conlet fed in a good spirit. That after noon's games were the forerunner t.-f many pleasant bowling days between the Hubs. lb- hoped Pukekohe would hold the cup for a couple of years, and then Waiuku for live or six years (Applause.) He pointed out that the contest; originated throue.n the late Mr. Monty Writrht. who was formulating a scheme whereby'boto j clubs, instead of playing matches for the sake of games, would have something to plav for. However, before Mr. Wright had completed his scheme he passed to the Great BeyonA so the club put the scheme in a'tangihle form. The cup was not quite teadv, but they had obtained a substitute for the time being. A handsome cup. valued at a&out £3O, would be donated. He congratulated Mr. Fitness's rink on winning the club's open tournament.
Cheers were then given for the Waiuku teams, the winners of the tournament, and the president. Mr. I). Neil, on behalf of the visitors. extended hearty thanks for the Pukekohe Club's hospitality. They had enjoyed the day's outing. He congratulated the winners, but added when they visited Waiuku the tables would be turned. (Applause.) Cheers were then given by Waiuku for the home club.
