PERSONAL.
Intimation has been received that Mr. Hina Wineera, a half-caste native, who was employed on the clerical stall' at the Pukekohe railway station for some time, died at Porirua on November 9. .Deceased was fairly well known and highly respected in Pukekohe. He was a very conscientious young man, and gave considerable promise of becoming an efficient railway officer.
Before the ordinary business v. commenced at Tuesday's meeting of the Manukau County Council. t;a chairman made feeling reference -to the death of Cr. A. D. Reid, representative for the Papakura Riding, stating that the council had sustained a great loss in the death of such ar, able councillor as Mr. Reid. Thej had also sustained a severe loss as a personal friend. Deceased had a sterling character, well respected by ail, had many friends and no enemies. 11. possessed the necessary quaiificatio:,to fit him for # the position he held on the council. He moved a vote of condolence with the relatives of deceased, which was carried in silence, members standing. The late Cr. Muir, whose seat on the council the late Cr. Reid tilled, succumbed about two years age. Tiie-Papakuiia Riding L very unfortunate in losing two such valuable ratepayers aod councillors during the last of the council.
