Mr. Fawcett reported to the board regarding the metal crushed which was under otter to the board. He sta'ted the machine, although it had not.been worked for five months was in good working condition. The mach inery was not, however, portable; but if the board require*'a Stationary machine he would recouvnend its purchase. The price asked,' £550, was cheap, and it would probably cost the board £BOO to buy the various articles separately. After some discussion regarding oil or fuel power, and portability and otherwise, Mr. Rea ni<p*d and Mr. Montgomery seconded that the board accept the offer ami ""* purchase the crusher. After stil! further, discussion the motion was caWriefy, Mr. Campbell refraining from voting. A' Utter was received from Mr. P. j*"L. Guillard stating that he had purchased a piece of metal land on the Hunuis Gorge. The writer state' that lo was prepared tojrtart quarrying m?tal immediately, and .would be in a position to supply the board either with metal or spawls. It wi s decided ,that in view of the board's intent instal a crushing plait of ite oyjfjh. nothing be done in the matter aVpresent, but <hat Mr. G\iillard be thanked for his offer. Water Supply. , Messrs. Lockie Gannon and Worley wrote informing the board that they had ordered the reticulation pipe:-, „ valves, hydrants and fittings as instructed. In connexion with this matter the board's engineers stated that an immediate start could be , made with the work. The cement had not yet been secured, but in view of the fact that waterworks were considered estential work, the cement company would supply cement in an expeditious manner. Trie letter stated that if , the engineer's recommenda ; tions were earned out and a gang of workmen started immediately, the ftupphf, of water to Papakura next * spring would be assured. After som;: .discussion on the matter it was re- ' solved that Messrs. On the motion of Mr. Jones, it was decided that the loan money be ex peiided in kerbing the footpaths of the main streets, |
