Nominations for the election of members of ridings of the Franklin County Council close at the County Office before noon on Monday, November 1.
Mr. John R. Lowry, who was a member of the Raglan County Council for sixteen years, announces that he will be a candidate for the Drury riding of the Franklin County. A final reminder is given those interested that the hockey ball will be held in the Premier Hall tonight. Elaborate arrangements are complete, and everything points to the function being an unqualified success. A definite attempt to supply a very obvious deficiency in Pukekohe, nailery, a brass band, is now being made. All players and sympathisers with the proposal are directed to an advertisement in this issue dealing with the matter.
A proest against the alleged delay by the Railway Department in forwarding local produce to Wellington will be made by the Pukekohe District Produce Growers' Association at a meeting to be held on Saturday night. The record of rainfall as registered at Victoria Avenue. Waiuku, during September, is as follows: Rain fell on 20 days, the fall varying from .01 to 1.01 in., and totalling 5.6' in.
