A VETERAN

145 YEARS OLD. American Keel Cross physicians at Constantinople after looking up every available record are convinced that Zora, born at Bitlis, Armenia, early in 1775, is the oldest man in the world. That makes him 145 years of age. He went to Constantinople when a youth, married at 18, losJt his wife, married again, and was the father of 15 children. His only surviving son is 90 years old. For a century the sturdy Kurd made a comfortable living as a hamal, or street bearer. He is now employed as, a copoudji (janitor) at the artillery arsenal of Top-Hane. Within the last J two years his health has failed somewhat, and he complains bitterly against the doctors, who have had much trouble forcing him to live on milk and milk foods. |
