It was stated that the' estimated cost of the structure was £25,330 2s, based on the prices of materials, etc., ruling in June last—the time the plans were completed, but some delay was occasioned through the Department's failure to approve of the plans at the earliest possible date. !n reply co the letter requesting the Papaloetoe I own L'oard to select another site frr sanitary depot, the board stated that the Public Health Department had inspected the dump and was most emphatic in stating that the burying of nightsoil at the present depot would in no way be a menace to health, nor could it be in any way detrimental to the adjacent farms. The board added that it could not find a suitable dump on any piece of ground under its jurisdiction, and in view of the Health Department's inspection. requested the council H withdraw its objection to the use of the property for a nightsoil dump. Cr. Waters said he thought the council should adhere to its previous decision, and on his motion this was agreed to. He thought the only solution was for the board to instal a septic tank.
