WAGGON AXLE BREAKS.

TRUNK EXPRESS DELAYED. During the journey of the late goods train from Pokeno to Mercer on Wednesday night an axle of one of the waggons broke. We understand that as a result the permanent way was somewhat damaged. The mishap was not discovered until the train arrived at Mercer. It is usually the case when an axle of a waggon breaks the railway track is damaged -sleepers cut about, and bolls, etc;, at joints of the rails cut oil". Although the local railway olliciifls are reticent about the matter we believe this is what happened on Wednesday night. A stall' was engaged, and soon had the line clear again, but the Main Trunk express yesterday morning bound for Auckland was delayed .it Mercer for about an hour before tho line was repaired and she could proceed on her journey.
