JERSEY BREEDERS' ASSOCIATION.
ANNUAL MEETING.
The annual meeting of the Pukckohc branch of Hie Jersey Breeders' Association was held in the A. and P, Society's rooms on Saturday' afternoon, the president, Mr. R, F. Wilkinson, being in the chair. g When the election of officers came on Mr. Jos. Fulton paid a high tribute to the outgoing chairman, whom, he said, had more grit in him than most men. speaker had great pleasure in moving a hearty vote of thanks to the president for his capable and single-minded work. Mr. R. Spragg supported, pointing outr the great ability and inestimable tact shown by the chairman was largely responsible for the success of the society.
The above remarks were greeted with enthusiastic applause. Mr. Wilkinson replied, and voiced his opinion that there was a great future for the Jersey Breeders' Association.
Mr. Spragg proposed and Mr. H. Dell seconled that Mr. Wilkinson be re-elected.—Carried unanimously amid great applause. The president paid a tribute to Mr A. D. Stanley (secretary) for the good work he had done for the society. Unfortunately, owing to his living in Auckland, Mr. Stanley was unable to continue so to act. He proposed, and Mr. Dynes Fulton seconded, that Mr. V. R. Hamilton be appointed secretary. The president suggested that all members of the branch should belong to the committee. Mr. Jos. Fulton moved in that direction. Carried.
Mr. C R. Sprays was appointed vice-president. The president said there would probably be a surplus <,f about K2.*i on the sale. The annual balance-sheet showed a credit of C 22 10s. Field Demonstration. _ The chairman advocated a tiood field day. the instruction at which would he of "rent'value to ail dairv farmers. Mr, H. K. H. Watson, of Canterbury, would demonstrate. There could also be judging competitions. Mr. Dynes Fulton . supported, especially as it would be the means of bringing on young men to qualify as Tuition from such m man as Mr. Watson would ho very valu able.
Mr. Spi-ae- heartilv endorsed the proposal to .hold both a demonstral'oM il "d judging coinpetitinn. Agreed upon. A committee was appointed to insped the available stock in the dis trict where owners were agreeable, and' that, suitable pedigree animals he selected. Several members invited inspection of their cattle. The chairman. Messrs. K. [.). Melx-nnan and A. ('. Jones were appointed a selection committee.
A little discussion look place as to whether or not gr.nk cattle should be admitted, but it was agreed that it was nol possible to L -et g I grade cattle without lirst having Lte.od"pedigree animal.; as a basis.
