I LAST NIGHTS MEETING. I The f}r*s meeting of the newlyjlected Raipakura Town Board was leld evening, when there krere preselit: Messrs. S.. Evans, E. D. HcLemian,.Ts. "Ilea, T. D. Campbell, V. -W. Jarfes, K, Montgomery, anil he clerk (Mr. A. L. Cooper). I An apology for absence was revived from '.Or. A. W. P. Brookliald, yho is indisposed. He was granted eave of absense from two or three neetings of the board. The. clerk took the chair, aim ailed for nominations for the posiion of chairman. Mr. E. D. McLenruin congratulated

With regard .to the sanitary depot stablished by the board on Mr. J. tea's property at Papakura, the Ma mkau County Council entered an ob ection to the site being furthei iged for such a purpose. The coun :il, it was pointed out, Weened u >etition from' several, of the county atepayers in the vicinity, win itrongly object to the depot being Bstablished in that portion of tin county. The council requested that the board cease using the land as a sanitary depot, and failing compliance ndvisod that the council would take steps in its power to stop the business. . Mr. Montgomerie suggested that the only remedy was a septit tank, and asked if any estimate o! cost of a tank had been obtained. The chairman replied in the negative, but stated it was mentioned during a. discussion that one could be bull; forlSOO. Mr. Campell: "You could not build one for that amount. *' Mr. Jones suggested that a m&lvcommit lee from the hoard look around forsuitable dump. The chairman move*; tha* a sub-committee he set up to find a suitable dump and also obtain Information as to the cost of a septic tank. The motion was carried. On the motion of Messrs. Rea and Mont gomery it was decided to write to the Manukaul County Council asking for a few days' grace to enable ths Kto obtain another suitahk ' Messrs. Eventually it was decided to restriel the loads of coal to two tuns each. Messrs. 1). W. Jones and E. I).
