"A land flowing with milk and money" was the description given by Mr. W. -J. King to the Waiuku district. when comparing, during the course of a valedictory function in and his family's honour, the state of the district 56 years ago with its present prosperity.
Special attention is. drawn to the screening of the Goldwyn feature drama. "Upstairs," at the Premier Hall to-night (Tuesday). Mabel Normand is the star. There will be no pictures to-morrow evening as the hall is being prepared for the flower show.

The record of rainfall as registered at Victoria Avenue, Waiuku, during August was as follows: —Rain fell on 23 days, the fall averaging from .Olin. to .84in, and totalling 4.71 in. For the corresponding month in previous vears the register is as follows:—For 1915. 1916, 1917, 1918 and 1919: 4.32 in., 9.18 in., 4.97 in., 3.16 in., and 2.78 in respectively. During September up to now (morning of 11th) only ,30in. has fallen.
