TUAKAU REQUEST. >

Tuakau aspires to the acquisition ; of a suburban train service. Mr. J. j Mungall and Mr. J. Pirret moved at j a meeting of the Tuakau Town Board ' on Tuesday night that the' Minister for Railways be asked to extend the I suburban service to Mercer. Mr. Dynes Fulton (chairman) and i Mr. C. Finch seconded an amendment ! that the Minister be asked to extend to Mercer.

Mr. Mungall replied tljai tTie am endment would nullify the proposal as the Department would object to the long distance* Mr. Fulton replied that the Department would not xo to the expense of. constructing' facilities and workmen's cottages at Tuakau when these things already existed at Mercer. The motion was carried. It was also made a recommendation to the new hoard in follow up the matter.
