On Saturday last a team from Papakura played a Pukekohe team on the local links, the latter winning with 2 up. The following are the individual scores:— Men.—W. Brosnahan v. Hunt, 3up and 1 to play; J. W. Johns v. Meikle, 3 down and 2 to play. Ladies.—Mrs. Bayly v. Miss Wood, 7 up and 6 to play; Mrs. CampbellSmith v. Mrs. Walters, 6 up and 4 to play; Mrs. Motion v. Mrs. Watts, 5 down and 4 to play; Mrs. Roulston v. Mrs. Brunskill, 7 up and 4 to play; Mrs. Johns v. Miss McLennan, 3 down and 5 to play at 13th hole; Miss Attenborrow v. Miss Walker, all square. Miss Allan v. Miss Spencer, all square The final of the captain's prize was also decided on Saturday between Mr. B. P. Hopkins and Mr. Chas. Bonner. Mr. Hopkins eventually won an interesting game with 6 up and 5 to play. What must be something in the nature of a record in local golf was made by Mr. Hopkins, who won the match by putting out from a distance of 78 feet. This is the second year in succession" Mr. Hopkins has won the captain's prize. The draw for Mr. Brosnahan's prizes has now been completed, and may be seen in the window of the secretary's office, East Street. Players are reminded that the first round must be plavecl by Saturday, September 4.
