THE PUKEKAWA MURDER
REWARD OF £250 OFFERED.
NO ARKEST VET MADE.
DIFFICULT TASK OF POLICE
A reward of K250 is now being of fered by the superintendent of polic* in Auckland for information leading to the conviction of the murderer of Mr. Sidney S. Eyre at his farm at Pukukawa on Tuesday night. So few clues were left by'the perpetrator of the crime that the task of Detec-tive-Sergeant Cummings and the five police officers who are assisting him in the investigations is* no enviable one. They are scouring the district in search of evidence to place them on the track of the murderer, and their efforts may lead them to a definite clue at any moment, although, on the other hand, some time may elapse before they will be in a position to lay a charge against any particular; individual.
The heavy rains which have fallen since the night of the tragedy have obliterated certain tracks which the police had discovered, and this has hampered their investigations.
