There was a fairly large attendance, and th® benefit fund should be considerably augmented. .a . From the kick-off made the pace very willing and invaded Pukekohe territory, but the. reds returned and Tuakau were .penalised, enabling Leighton to pl£:e a goal. Tuakau maintained the pressure. and soon after Parsons fell over. The kick failed. Leighton obtained possession soon after and made a great opening. He passed to Jas. Adams, who kicked to the home fullback, Potoa Hira. The latter ran behind the posts and attempted to kick, but Perkins obtained , and touched down. Leighton added the major points: Pukekohe 8, Tu(ikau-3. Pukekohe was penalised and Pivott failed to enhance, but R. Smeed followed up. and before the defenders realised the position he had dived over. Potoa's kick missed. Pukekohe were penalised soon after, and Wharu goaled, making the score: Tuakau 9, Pukekohe S. Tuakau pressed, and Roa Hira following a long kick scored. WHaru goaled: Tuakau 14, 8. ¥For an infringement Pukekohe were penalised, and Wharu enhanced, making the tally: Tuakau 17, Pukekohe H. The game ended with Pukekohe attacking. The game throughout was fast" i'ncl exciting, and at times some good football was witnessed. Mr. W. Taylor refereed. After the match the Tuakau club entertained the visitors at dinner. Mr. F. H. Hewitt, on behalf of the visitors, thanked the home team for the hospitable manner in whicfr it had entertained the visitors. He expressed a wish to see a Tuakau team at Pukekohe on Saturday. Mr. W. Taylor replied on behalf of Tuakau. Cheers were given for the winners of the match, and the Pukekohe bdjte returned home . thoroughly satisfied witli the day's outing.
PUKEKOHE V. NEWTON,
The Newton senior team will play Pukekohe on the Domain on Saturday, September 4. A good game is expected.
PUKEKOHE JUNIORS V. PONSONBY THIRDS. The above teams were to have met on August 28 as a curtain-raiser to the Auckland v. South Island representative match. Owing to the above match being declared off in favour of the Northlands Rugby Union the trip to Auckland has been postponed until September 18, when Pukekohe juniors will meet Ponsonby Thirds as a curtain-raiser to the Auckland v. Bay of Plenty representative match. PUKEKOHE V. TUAKAU. The above teams will play a return match at Pukekohe on Saturday next. A great game is expected. All are advised to attend and see two teams in action. MEETING. Members of the Pukekohe club will meet at the Borough Council Chambers to-morrow night at eight o'clock. All are requested to attend as the business is important.
