BREEDERS' ASSOCIATIONS
PEDIGREE CATTLE SALE.
THURSDAY, SKFTEMBKR 30. A meeting of the Jersey and Milking Shorthorn Breeders' Associations was held in the A. and P. offices at Pukekohe on Saturday, the president (Mr. U. K. Wilkinson) occupying the chair. In discussion on a proposal to hold an annual sale, disappointment was expressed because the auctioneers were not. agreeable to giving a rebate on commissions. Mr. A. Jones failed to see what benefit it was going to be to breeders to run a sale for profit of the auctioneers. The chairman admitted that the society was under disadvantages at present, but it would be on a better footing next year. Other members thought that in the interests /if the breed the sale should be held." It was decided that Messrs. A. Buckland and Sons and New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd be the combined auctioneers. The resolution to hold the sale on the showgrounds was rescinded in favour of the horse bazaar. An entry fee of 2s per head was decided on. The date lixed for the sale was Thursday, September :>(», and the date "I closing of entries was extended 1o August :»1; that no post-entries be received; and that all entries must lie catalogued by the date of the closing of entries. It was hoped that all cattle could be led would be haltered, and that all stock under the of 18 months be innoculated. lhe matter of holding a field demonstration was held in abeyance, to be discussed after the sale. The next meeting was fixed for Saturday. September 4.
