HOCKEY DISPUTE.
Sir,— May I transgress your valuable space to remark upon the amazing article appearing under the heading of Hockey Notes in your last issue in which our Waiau l\i iriend asks us to believe Ainonp; other things—that his team was badly treated in not being represented in the White Horse Cup team? }>o far as the selection of players went, 1 should like to say that of their team one man was asked to play for Franklin, and another to act as emergency. Both declined to go. The author of the article in discussion seems to overlook the fact that when Waiau Pa played the Franklin representatives at Puni they were beaten by 8 points to 1. Regarding their remarks anent the referee being prejudiced in favour of their opponents (but not too prejudiced to prevent their winning!), it is so unsportsmanlike that comment is haruly necessary. P. J. BROWN, Hon. Secretary, Franklin Hockey Assn.
