TUAKAU SCHOOL QUESTION
A BURNING TOflC. Tuakau is all on edge again over the question of school sites. Although the Board of Education had declared its intention not to reopen the question again, it intends to make a visit to Tuakau on August 3, and neet the committee again. A large petition signed by the parents of every child attending the school, and by others, totalling over 1)5 per cent, of the people in the district, has been drawn up, protesting against the reopening of the question, and praying that tenders be accepted at once. A great deal of indignation is felt at the action of the board, and a warm reception will await them on their arrival. It is understood Unit the board arc divided on the subject. anc ! that the inspectors will not consider any other proposition than Glasgow's site. After the grant had been obtained for a building in wood the committee exerted their influence and got an additional sum for a building in brick. The whole matter will be threshed out again, and a further delay caused by the board's action. It is understood that the Whangarata people are sending down a strong deputation also, as it appears it is thought that the board consider closing their's also.
