TUAKAU. PROPOSED MEMORIAL HALL. ' Although Tuakau, like Puktfcohtjj and some other places, has liiiul in the matter of a soldiers' way to ho given an opportunity of ing good. On Thursday night X public meeting of ratepayers is. to be held in the Tuakau Town Hall for the purpose of considering the advisability of taking a poll for a loan to provide a'memorial town hall. That a memorial to our soldiers should be erected no one disputes, and neither is there any room for argument about the need for a deceitt'town hall in Tuakau. As both propositions arfe unassailable, on either logical or sen- . timental grounds, the loan proposal-.-.' it' put to the vote, should be cw*ies?i by a large majority.MERCER. FOOTP.ALL SOCIAL. On Friday, Julv 23, a football social was held in the Mercer Town Hall, and was ciuite a success. The night being cold and frosty, daiving was very much enjoyed. Music was supplied by Mrs. Bush, of Tuakau, and extras were played by Misses B. , and Sell wood. The door was in splendid order, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Dancing was kept up till about Ji a.m. About 11 p.m. a darnty hand-round pupper was served.
The Mercer railway ball is to be held on Friday, July 30, and is beino greatly looked forward to.
