FRANKLIN A. & P. SOCIETY

ANNUAL MEETING. Tho annual meeting of tho Franklin A. and P. Society will be hold in tho Masonic Hall next Friday, .July 2:!. The following is a copy of tho annual report to ho submitted:--In presenting the 35th annual report to our members, we wish to point out -that during tho past season the society has made great procress in many directions. At our Autumn Show wo put up a record for the province in entries. In fact we claim to be the first society in tho Auckland Province wh.ese enI tries it an acricultura] show evccc-d----!ed 2000. We have also held a suej cessful .Winter Show, which wii' j clear expenses and show a surd' profit. Had the weather been favourable it would have been a still greater success, j T wish to- thank the chairman, Mr. ! J. Roulston, and committee, and varij ous officials who helped with the : Winter Show. j At the present time our greatest I trouble is finance. Our liabilities at j the present time amount to EGIOR J and our interest amounts to .r"'OS) per ! annum. This handicaps our progress, j At tho same time we reouire ! tional buildings ai-ci srandst'and. es- ■ timatcd to cost about £SOOO. i There are various suggestions out ; for financing those projects, and we ■ would like all members who take an ] interest in the welfare oF the soj eiety to come out to our.annual meetj ing'and discuss and offer suggestions ! for carrying out these projects. ( We have every confidence in our i society, but we recognise our responj sibiliiies. ! H is a period of great progress, enterprise, and development all over the Dominion. Tf our society is content to stand still, in a very fewyears it will die with stagnation or lie left Car behind in the rear. Last year G4G members paid up. In a district like this which is famed for its rich dairying and cropping lands, and is known is tho "Carden of New Zealand," we should have collected 5:1200 alone in members' subscriptions. We want your help, your sympathy, and your brains to assist us m making <t»ur society worthy oF the great district it represents. In conclusion. T wish to thank the

executive, the donors, Hi- stewards, and judges, and all those who so Kindly helped me during the year. J. N.'Massey, President.
