ARE THE PRINCE'S PHOTO GRAPHS GOOD.

Dr. Fitchstt, in die July 7 issue of "Life," just to hand, deciares.. the photographs of the'*Prince ot Wales do him an immense injustice: but in spite of this "Life", cover bears a very attractive reproduction of the most popular of the thousands of portraits of the Prince, and many people will be glad to keep this as a happv memento of the Royal visit. In this July issue of "Life" Sir Ross Smith continues the graphic personal story of his amazing flight--how amazing one realises as he reads the account of the many narrow escapes experienced by the crew of the Vimy. The instalment for July includes the flight across the old battlefields of Palestine and above the; historic cities of Mesopotamia. Amongst the illustrations is

a magnificent panoramic view of Jeiiisaiem in which all the salient points of '.he Holy City and its surroundings can -be clearlv picked out. Captain Hurley, having concluded the story of the Shackleton Antarctic Expedition, breaks new ground with an interesting account of how thf party made the trip through the South American republics, across the Ancles, and through the submarine /.one to England: Sir Ernest, himself, setting out to the relief of the Ross Sea party. This chapter leveals Captain Hurley in a new and most entertaining vein. In addition to these features, "Life" contains a bright and informative account of the Murray Irrigation settlements by W. A. Somerset: a couple of line stories, and a number of regular departments, replete with good things. If any reader is unable to secure "Life" locally, copies may be obtained from the publisher, T. Shaw Fitchett, 376, Swanston Street, Melbourne, for Is Id in stamps.
