Nominations for seats en the executive of the Pukekohe BowlingClub are called for by advertisement. Another of the very pleasant socials and dances which the Pukekohe East Tennis Club is responsible for will be held in the Pukekohe East Hall on Thursday, July 22.

Belgian glass is once more finding its way to New Zealand merchants, one of whom expressed the opinion to a Wellington Post reporter that prices of all glass may reasonably be expected to fall shortly.

A man named Henry Smith Walker, uger 47, committed suicide in the police cells at Cambridge on Friday by hanging himself with a strip of blanket. He was arrested on the previous evening while drunk on methylated spirits. The building of main street properties in Pukekohe is going ahead by leaps and bounds, notwithstanding the shortage of labour and material. The latest' addition to the town which is in the course of construction is a large motor-cycle and bicycle repair shop to be in the capable hands of Messrs. Hart and Keane. We have pleasure in chronicling the sale of another main street pioperty. A quarter-acre section and house now occupied by the Misses Ramsay, the buyers being Messrs O'Hara Bros. The prices of dairy stock are already hardening in the Wairarapa. At a sale of a herd on Tuesday the average price obtained Kt22 10s per head for SO cows. At a clearing sale of dairy stock at Greytown the general average 5 was from .',20 to 1:25. Two with a slight Jersey strain fetched l :30 each.

The very peiceptible swelling of the fruit buds in orchards gives promise of an early spring. Fletcher put a lot of force behind his punches, and at the end of the second round Penno left the ring. Mr. Jack Adams, when playing with Pukekohe seniors at Onewhero on Saturday, received a nasty bump on the thigh. The injury did not cause anv concern at the time it occurred, hut on the journey home the cold got into the injured part and it became much worse. On arrival at Pukekohe Dr. Wake's services were secured. Mr. Adams is now making good progress.

Some time ago a Canterbury farmer "surrendered, without goodwill, a Government lease which he held of vol tain sections to two returned soldiers, but in making the gift he had to pay stamp duty amounting to r.lO-1 Ills.
