Two of the oldest identities of Pukekohe, Mr. and Mrs. D. Goodwin, met with a nasty accident on Saturday, by which Mr. Goodwin sustained broken ribs and Mrs. Goodwin vas badly shaken and bruised. The elderly couple, who are extremely well known all over the district, were driving from Patumahoe, their horse shied, and they were thrown out. Mr. Goodwin landed with his back on a huge boulder, and was rendered unconscious, and Mrs. Goodwin fell on her head and was so bruised and shaken that she was unable to move. Luckily, a passer-by (Constable Wolfendale, )f the Puuekohe Police Force) saw their plight, and immediately went for assistance. Mr. J. R. McMillan went out post-haste in his car and brought the injured couple home, where they now lie. Mr. Goodwin is in a precarious condition, and Mrs. Goodwin is making progress. Their host of friends and acquaintances wiil sympathise with thent, and wish them a speedy recovery, although patience will be needed, seeing that Mr. Goodwin is over 80 years of age, and Mrs. Goodwin 76. From enquiries made just before going to press we learn that Mr. Goodwin has improved slightly, and Mrs. Goodwin is making satisfactory progress.
