A meeting of the Franklin Rugby Union was held on Wednesday night (Mr. J. Beatty presiding) to consider the matter with regard to the match Clevedon v. Pukekohe, which was to have taken place at Clevedon or. June 5, but owing to a breakdown in the conveyance the visiting team arrived late, in fact too late lor the match to be played. The particulars of the incident have already appeared in these columns. The Clevedon Club wrote claiming the match, pending a ruling of the union on the matter. The Clevedon delegates stated their club was quite prepared to have the match played, but they wanted some ruling on the matter in the event of a similar occurrence. Eventually Mr. L. Pulham moved, and Mr. W. Taylor seconded, that the match be awarded to Clevedon. Mr. Townsend moved as an amendment that the matter be left in the hands of both clubs, the union recommend ing that it be played. Mr. Smeed seconded; the amendment was lost by six votes to five. The voting was as follows: For the amendment, Messrs. Townsend, Smeed, Wilson, Ryan, and Wray. Against: Messrs. Pulharn. Taylor, Floyd, Glasgow, Oow and Murray. In the event of a similar breakdown to any other team and the late arrival of the team the match, according to the union's ruling, can be claimed by the team ready to take the field. We under, stand that it is the intention of the Pukekohe Club to appeal to the Auckland Rugby Union for a rulinfc on the matter. SECOND ROUND FIXTURES.
