In Holland the amount is about £3OO per cow. In New Zealand our cows are much lower in money value than in the countiies referred to Thsse facts bear weight when considering the future development of dairying, as a dairy farmer ca« start in New Zealand with less capital than in almost any country supplying the world market.
PRICK OF COWS. As indicating the value of dairy cattle in England the following ficures, as given in the Live Stock Journal recently, may be quoted: A "commercial" daiiy cow from Workington made £B4, and rthors fetched £7-2 an J . V6B at Carlisle. A heavy yielder, however, realised £BB in Penrith. Top price at Doncaster was £6O, in Maxtor v 's9 10s, in Nottingham £6B 10s, in Peterborough £62, in Richmond (Yorkshire) £69, in Exeter KoO, i.i Northampton £7l, and m Lasingstr-KO (fits. In-calf cows fetched s-62 10s a! Retford. In Whitchurch (Salop) r. few of the best dairy cows realised (67 10s, £63, and £6l, several averaging over ,£57.
