SCHOOL TRAIN DELAY

TUAKAU AND HARRISVILLE SCHOLARS' HARDSHIPS. SCATHING COMMENT. TOWN BOARD ACTION. The wretched school train service, Pukekohe .to Mercer, was the subject of scathing comment at the monthly meeting of the Tuakau Town Board on Tuesday night, members scathingly denouncing the conditions under which scholars are obliged to "do a freeze " for three or four hours while waiting at the Pukekohe railway station from 3.30 p.m. until about 6.30 p.m. on occasions. » Mr. Finch remarked that the school train taking scholars from the Pukekohe Technical School was delayed for two or three hours at Pukekohe, .thus forcing the children of Tuakau and Harrisville to land back at Tuakau at about 7 p.m. Some of the Harrisville scholars arrived home very late at night, having four or five miles to drive home. It was decided to complain to the Board on the matter.
