FRANKLIN REFEREES' ASSOCIATION. The Franklin Referees' Association met on Tuesday night, Mr. R. Fii\ton, president, presiding over Mess s. E. Pollock, Joe Reynolds, F. Burg, ss, J. O'Malley, and Bert Claike (;ecre tary). The secretary reported that he had written |to the Auckland Association asking for an Auckland referee to proceed to Pukekohe to examine the local referees. The Auckland Association was sending a man here -on Friday (to-night). It was deckled to invite all members of the local association to attend. The president said the association was not working satisfactorily because it had not received the support it should have had from several 'clubs and referees. Football dubs had sent in the names of referees but these men had not fulfilled their promise to referee. A member stated that it was com,mon practice among certain people to criticise and "throw off" at the referee* Such was uncalled for. A question was asked: In' tJie event of the local association filling through, could sufficient referees be obtained from Auckland ? Mr. Burgess said he did not think so. He had seen by the papers that the 'Auckland Association was complaining about not having sufficient men. Thev had a difficulty-in getting enough men to referee their own matches. was decided to carry on an.l see the season successfully over. It was decided to write to all dubs pointing out that it was essential they should nominate referees for the local association. The membership fee was fixed at ss.
