POTATO FLOURMILL.

Sir,—Your leader on potato flourmills is worthy of consideration. The piofitable utilising of surplus -potatoes must be of inferesjMt to all growers. That potatoes made into flour, starch, etc., ttaae can be no doubt. The chief question would he the cost, and there is little use of putting anything before growers unless some reliable data can be got. If such can be secured, and a payable proposition laid before a meeting of glowers, I feel sure it would be taken up. Can you, Mr. Editor, tell us where to apply? Trusting you will keep the subject before your readers, and help secure information. • E. ALLAN. (The Government Department of Agriculture should be able to supply all such data.—Ed. 'F and P. Times.")

(To the Editor.) Sir,—As a result ot the failure of joe Gardner's oppoieut to turn up and meet him, as announced&ati the Premier Hall on Wednesday jgtt* last, a good many inuendoes ftsßjc. - been thrown at me by the &tt& i sports as being respo>isihjfcfor£lii£ ; 5 fiasco. I am ready i inasmuch as I alltfSySlw&e #»'■ netted with my picture show, But my reason for this is quite plain, viz.: On the previous Saturday, even* ~ ing Joe Gardner came to nutjfc and asked to engage the hall oK'tigM*fe.&\ nesday rrfgbt .in question -tfyampr t off a vnm~wmjfe& who had-dgNßMMiim durifl|.;tne "~ time he uftP-wreslging «a<t th£ JJRSirland Exhibition, whose challenge he then .refused. I «jpldjio£jftf£». hall tap him, as it wasrjgigcfcnont - pictdjfe "night, but withc4KH^tt6flg^. : ing Hie bona fides of hisgßtemehS,' a agreed to let the bout Ol nUice. J after the pictures, -also thJcVrwifUldy.-.* ? cut the programme to 9.30 p.ii., and further that I would allow 'the wrestlers as a pu«eg. all moneys that the contest would attradt over my aver-*, age receipts; also in order to ensune-,' the public a decent show in case the match ended quickly, had arrange. -S ed with Mr. Beit Steele, a locals lightweight, to give an exhibition *■ with Gardner. Well, there is no need for me to add that Gardner's oppon* ent failed to materialise, and there is no need for those to squeal who dfci not pay to see the match; those who did pay have not squealed. I fell in worst of all, and I am not losing any sleep over it. Bui new I am on the job, I am -prepared to make good on my own bat. I do bcleive, and have believed for a long time, that a wrestling schooLwould be a good, adjunct... fo f^yjfl9^ an( * would operC^u'r^ :L J*iPP*' branch of of this district; aM 3ft- sirppofrt of 1 my belief I am willing to malce> a start by an offer of a £lO purse for a catch-as-catch-can bout, to any two local men in or about Pukekohe to contest the championship of the town. I will provide all necessary equipment, mat, stage, lighting, etc. Contestants can appoint their own neferee. Failing to agree I am willing to act as arbitrator or to r-ppo-irt a referee myself. Further, the contest will take place in the Piemier Hall, and I will charge''admission to all who desire #;o witness the match, this in order that I shall be at as little loss as possible. Also, I will .>ersonaly guarantee £lO to any local chr : itjf„ should there be, through any fault over which I have control, any breach of faith on my pailt or on the part of the contestants, if in the ;,< latter case they will forfeit the to anv local charity named, .f sport is introduced it can only success so lons as it is clean 'Mgrt above boa Ah and so. long as MWP: any hand in it my £lO charity offer holds good.
