WAIAU PA.

The monthly meeting of the local branch of the Fawners' Union was held in the hall on Saturday evening last, after which a farewell smoke coricert was given by the ".en to Mr. Grinter. The Pukekohe hockey team came out on Saturday afternoon to play the local team.. Arriving late they found that Waiau Pa had been playing a practice game for about an hour, thinking that their opponents were not coming. Somewhat tired, the home team entered into the match with full zest however, and a good game was played, ending in a draw, both sides having scored one goal. At the close of the game tea ~v 3£ provided at the hall by Mrs. Deane and Miss Learning. The first meeting of the Waiau Pa Hockey Club was held on April 30. There was a faiHy large Mr. Sheppard was appointed chairman for the meeting. It was arranged to write to Mii. K. Clarkson, asking him to accept the position of president. The following vice-presi-dents were elected: Messrs F. M. Hattaway, R. Schofield. W. Gilford. J. W. McLarin, junr. J. W. McLarin, senr.. G. Learning. Mr Deane was elected captsyn, Mr. W. Runciman vice»-captain, and Mr. A. learning secretary. It was decided that the club colours should be black and white. On the motion of Mr. Runciman it was decided that the club should be affiliated with the Franklin Hockey Association. The annual subscription to the club was fixed at ss. The meeting closed with a hearty vote of thanks to Mr. Sheppard for the able manner in which it had been conducted.
