The monunent omn.ittec have worked well rnd harmoniously, and are to be congratulated on the success of this, their final, function fcr the fund. Mr. G. F. Mr. F. Appleby, ou • popular M.C., gave every satisfaction until at a late hour he handed over his duties to Mr. L. Clark, who also carried on to everyone's satisfaction. The music was in the hands of Mr H. Dimmock (of Waerenga) (vio- { lin) and Mrs. Clark (Maramarua). , Anyone who heard Mr. Dimmock play for a dance will know that the dancers were in for an enjoyable evening. Master Thomas Dimmock also assisted very successfully during the evening, and gives promise of becoming a good musician. The waltzing competition was won by Miss J. Mclnnes and Mr. G. Coxhead. The trophies were a handsome hand-mirror and gold compass respectively. The two highest-priced baskets belonged to Mrs. G. P. Mclnnes and Miss Jessie Popey both of which brought £7 5s each. Altogether, the chairman (Mf Alex Mclnnes) has reason to be proud that his scheme to honour our glorious heroes who gave their all for us, has borne suoh good insults, which are as follows: — Baskets (25) £7B 17s 6d. As the work for the I foundations is being done voluntarily there wiU not be much for expenses to be deducted from the total, BO that they have a nice sum to spend on the monument itself.
