KOHEKOHE.

FARMERS' UNION CONCERT AND DANCE. (Own Correspondent). The Weal night sent by the "clerk of the ,weather" on Friday was the last thing needed to ensure a booming success for the Kohekohe annual concert and dance given by the Farmers' Union. The school was packed to overflowing, but the night being fine and mild those outside gathered round the windows and got the full benefit of the programme provided by our local and visiting talent. Owing to the indisposition of the president (Mr. F. A. Harcombe) the chair was occupied by Mr. H. 0. Mellsop, who in a short speech, welcomed all and exhorted all members to attend the monthly meetings in the numbers present that night. He asked the wives to send the men along, even at the expense of having to sit up and get supper for them. The undermentioned performer., contributed items, and the numerous encores showed how deeply they were appreciated:—Mr R. Renall and Miss Joyce Bennett, pianoforte solos; -ongs, Mrs Harcombe and Mr. Manning; recitations. Mr. Ashworth Master C. Cooper and Miss Ida Ash worth; also a few tales by Mr. Mellsop; accompanist, Mrs 11. 0. Mell-

sop- , ~ . . What the boys called a "rippmi supper" was handed round after th concert. Thereafter, while the dan cers whirled to the merry strain supplied by the musician, R. Hew itt, the older folks wended their wa. homewards, and the boys (some o them up to fifty years of age), tilling advantage of the line night, in dulged in football.
