H. Seager (WeymoutV Road, Manurewa) drew the council's ? attention to the culvert through i Wallace Avenue. He pointed out that ■ the culvert was above the level of the water; consequently the culvert would not carry the water from Weymouth Road and Wallace Avenue, \ with the result that it flowed on to his property. He urged the council | to attend to the matter. Left in the hands of Cr. Reid and I the engineer jto look into. Orere Complaint. A complaint was made on behalf of the Orere settlers in connexion with the state of the contract mt the Orere Road extension wok. It was pointed out that the contractor was very unbusinesslike in the carrying out of the work, as since Easter no one has been working on tb# road, although the men went &**s£. at that time, leaving some of .the?-.- _ culverts in quite a dangerous condi- : tion, which state has been aggravated bv the recent heavy rains. TV settlers trusted the council would have the work completed with despatch, more particularly the culverts. Referred to the engineer to look into the matter. Supply of Water. With regard to the supply df water to the residences in the vicinity of the Mangere crossing, referred to in our last report, the Otahuhu Borough Council advised that it would supply the water at the rate of Is 3d per thousand gallons, the necessary mains and meter to be provid- , eel by the Manukau County Council. . - Received. Application for Increase of Wages. Mr. .1. Brodie (Clevedon) applied _ for an increase oi wages. out that owing to the high living.the wage he was receiving (Jfl per dav) was totally inadequate^^^B It was decided to i"eply stat TH that the council recently the wages question and had tixedßß them for a period of four months; At the expiry of the date the question would again be considered. ■ Pakuranga Request. Mr. T. R. Massey (Pakuranga) re luested the council to attend tot thfc culvert crossing the. main raod at Fortune's corner. ■ ? The matter was left to engineer and member for the riding to attend to. Paysheet. 'the paysheet, amounting to £509, was subinitted, approved of and passed for payment.
