"THE DOCTOR'S HILL." SUNNY EASTERN Sl6pE. ' Pukekohe Hill is the place, that has given the town its potato growing fame, but it is not the only spot in the borough where the tubers grow luxuriantly. On the eastern side of the railway line there is a beautifully sunny slope on "The Doctor's Hill," the property being that previously owned by Mr. Roose of "Rosemont." A very good example of what this warm, genial hillside will grow have been noted lately by whoever cared to look. X>n an area A one and three-quarteiWttcres Mr. R. Hemming and others nave just got out" an autumn crop of the gamekeeper variety, off virgin soil. The tubers are a splendid .lofk full and shapely in the t;4jje. size arjfikSplendid deep eyes and in the seed. Off this plot if" tons of potatoes have b£en taken/ which averages out at ; r's>Ji-4' tons*sto the not a crop. ..,*?**-' The OWJKPS of this crop estimate that, after all expenses, are paid, the profit will be at least £SO an acre and this off land a few months ago wa.S *';-ipßßySf fern and ti-tree. the whole slope faces the sun from early mom until well en into the afternoon, and the land is* of a genial loam, very friable and easy to work. It seems, therefore.. that when it is all made use of agriculture instead of for pastJM the volume of Pukekohe's ! wil be increased substantially. f£ —: 44-
