TOWN HAll SITE
REFERENDUM DECIDED ON. The vexed question of a town hall site was under discussion at a meeting of the Borough Council on Wednesday night. The Mayor (Mr. C. K. Lawrie) suggested that options be obtained over various properties and that a referendum of the ratepayers be taken to decide on a site. Also Cr. Geo Armstrong suggested that a deputation wait on Mr. \V. Roulston asking him to donate the present park and tennis conn for the purpose of a war memorial instead of a town hall.—Agreed to. The three sites the council have in view, and to which the choice will be restricted, are the Kennelly site \V. Roulston's section neai< the howling green and W. Roulston's gift site on Franklin and Fa:! Street.
