VALUE OF HEALTH
A BUSINESS ASSET. In the Grafton Library Hall;* the fortnightly lecture of the National School of Health was taken by Mi. (J. A. Wilson. Mr M. Walker pre* , sided. The speaker pointed out that good health, besides having community and national value in the ordinary way of life, was distinctly worth while from a commercial point ft view. This was being recognised by far-seeing employers in the Old Country and elsewhere, and also in Auckland, every effort being made to improve conditions and so increase the output, which is always necessary, but to-day is our national salvation. One important point was that, exceptions considered, people" were not paid for, working, but for the results of their work —the quantity and quality of it. The war consequences upon trade had obscured this fact, but before long, with a deflated currency and output beginning to overtake demand, it would force itself InloY notice. Therefore, now was the time to face the position. Everyone who worked with head or hand should recognise that the best work was not possible'if the body. was suffering from any run-down,'; condition, ffclr. Speaking of tin- possibilities of business advancement, the lecturer said that far from there being obstacles in the way, there were greater chances than ever. Employers the world over .were seeking men and women of initiative skill give them added responsibilities and remunerat ion.
