Prion to the election of officers,
, Ihe retiring president, Mr Dynes Fulton, said' he was pleased to see so many delegates present. Their presence showed that there was still a spirit of pleasure amongst the young fellows of Franklin. He pointed o.it that last year they had only commenced football after a lapse of some yea: 6, due to the war. The season could not be termed a highly sucessful one, but he hoped this year the season would be more success- . Jul. At the annual meeting of the Tuakau Club held the previous evening, it *was asked if it would be better to form the old Raglan Union, as teams could befgot from Mercer, the Maoris and Gnewhero. It was pointed out that it would be to better advantage, now that Tuakau was part and parcel of the Franklin County, to remain under the Fi'anklin Rugby Union, and make one really strong union. He trusted that there would not be a recurrence of last yeai's trouble between Tuakau and Pukekohe clubs. Towards the end of a season there was generally keen animosity between the leading teams in the competition but he hoped that the enthusiasm would not lead to anything but clean sport. He impressed on delegates the advisability of endeavouring to get their players to come out and play the game in the true sportsmanlike manner any game should be played. There should be no ill-feeling between clubs, and if true sportsmanship prevailed there would be no cause for wrangling. Election of Officers. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron (Right Hon. W. F. Massey, P.C), president (Mr. Geo. Proud, Bombay). Tlje retiring president (Mr. Dynes Fulton)'was nominated by Mr. W. Union it was obliged to enter the competition, but such duo had to come in under the ju.isdiction of some other affiliated club. Eventually Mr. Taylor moved that Patumahoe'be allowed to enter the junior competition under the jurisdiction of some other affiliated club, and that the boundaries remain as in the previous season as regards senior players.—Carried.
