AUCKLAND MARKET REPORT. Mr. J. Jones, on the corner, New City Markets, Auckland, reports sales for week ending April 10th. This week the market has been very brisk and we have passed a verylarge volume of business through. Poultry: To-day's sales was in short supply and prices firmed considerable foV any birds in the heavy supplv. Good prime heavy hens, also pullets and forward hens, realised good rates. Birds on the light side, also cockerels, are lowei?. The market has been for the last two months heavily supplied with poultry, therefore we expect from now on; values will firm.
Pigs are a shade love; in value. The market is heavily Supplied with potatoes affected with.tiio rust, and for these sales are hard to effect. For prime, clean lines the market is firm, though the Southern potatoes are now arr ■ •"■• : ' sup-
ply, and buyers art turning- the, attention to these: thus within a fr.v weeks locals will X W hard to• sell. The onion r _market- is much easier. Pumpkins," mar row*-"a ml l;unvi>":* are in good supply to a good demand, Fruit: Apple* are wanted and prices are much firmer. We handled large supplies this week, and day from day prices firmed. Butter, egg and baron market good. We quote:— Poultry (2000 penned)—liens: Ex,tra heavy 5s 3d to (is 4d, goofl 4s (id to ss. light 2s Ski to 3s; ordinary hens 3s to 4s: pullets, according to size and breed 5s to 10s 3d;' White Leghorns and Black Orpingtons are the fancy. Ducks 4s Cd to 7s 4d, drakes 3s to 4s 4d. Geese ss. Roosters, prime, heavy, Gs to 7s 3d: good 53 to 5s lOd. small 4s to 4s (id. .Cflckerels Is 9d to 2s 3d. Taitoey gobblers 12s to 16s, turkey hens lis to 8s fid, light 4s to ss. Pigs: Weaner £1 to CI 155.. Farm produce: Potatoes, prime Ell to £ll 10s; good' £9 to £9 10s. inferior 4s to Gs fid. Onions, lis to T4s; pumpkins 7s to 9s; swedes £3 to £4; maiirows Is fid to 3s fid dj», Pickling onions l'jd to 2d; citron? melons EG: water melon 2s to ssjw4 : each. Butter Is 4d, / eggs 3a*£j&. cheese Is 244 d, bacon Is sides Is 6d, hams Is Bd.
Fruit: Apples, bushel cases dessert, choice 8s to 9s 6d, good 6s to 7s, small 3s 6d to 4s 3d, cookers 5s to Gs 9d; pears 4s to 9s 6d; tomatoes 6s to 12s 9d; passions 3s to 6s. .
Grain: Maize 10s 3d, wheat lis, brail" 10s, sharps £l2 ss. Chaff, local W 10s to £l2; Southern £ls; oats fis 9d, barley Ss fid. Algerian oats 8s Gd.
